  • Jude: Level 1
    Jude: Level 1
    by Julian Gough

My new novel. It starts with the award-winning, BBC broadcast prologue, "The Orphan and the Mob", and continues with Jude's quest for True Love in Tipperary, Galway, the Aran Islands, and Dublin... Love, death, arson, philosophy, and sex. Starring Jude, an orphan who looks the spit of Leonardo DiCaprio. Except for having two penises. Which makes True Love... complicated.

  • Juno and Juliet
    Juno and Juliet
    by Julian Gough

My first novel, of which I am very fond. The adventures of teenage twin sisters Juno & Juliet, in their first year away from home. Life, love and literature, in Galway and Tipperary.

Who's that girl
Running around with you?
Tell me
Who's that girl
Running around with you?

Isn't she just absolutely, ridiculously gorgeous? That's Síle Seoige, on TG4, the Irish language television station. A lovely, smart person too. And yes, that's Irish/Gaelic we're speaking.

Pity the sound seems out of synch on the clip. Do you like the bit where I stand on my head? Anything to try and impress Síle...

Julian, I didn't know Irish had enough speakers to merit a television channel. But then again I recall those language maps showing Gaelic spoken on the western coast. Does this mean Irish the medium of everyday communication in Galway? How many use it in their home, is this what is spoken on the streets? Did you learn it this way, or by formally studying it? How does it FEEL to wear the language? Have your novels been translated?

I just viewed that again. Amazing, the language, the girl. Yes, your kicks are very nice. Interesting contrast between your own very communicative personality and your friends' taciturn ways.

TH had some impressive tracks. Julian, why wasn't the band more successful than it was? What's your take on that? Are you still viewing the Rachman Blog? You had some very funny comments back then.

Best

Eh, sorry for that "P.S.". That doesen't mean a thing, it's something I later incorporated in the post, but apparently didn't succeed in completely erasing.
